Things to know about me
My Why
At the heart of my work is a belief in the power of gathering. I’ve seen what’s possible when people come together with intention, curiosity and emotional safety. My why is to create those spaces and moments where groups can build trust, explore what matters and have the conversations that shift thinking, culture and strategy.
Emotional intelligence is at the core of this. I design and facilitate with a consideration for how people are feeling, and how they want to feel.
Whether it’s a strategy session, designing a new service, or team building, I design experiences that bring structure and humanity together.
My strengths and weakness
1. I’m a Connector which explains why I love facilitating and strategising. I’m at ease connecting people and ideas.
2. I’m Empathic which accounts for my lifelong interest in the science of emotions and as a facilitator, my ability to ‘read the room’ and tune into people’s needs.
3. I’m an Explainer which means i love converting the complex into simpler parts to help understanding.
4. Apparently my greatest weakness is Adherence! Rest assured I can follow rules and processes when required - but I am curious and creative, with a high need for adventure - perhaps why freelancing suits me so well!
Once upon a time I was a speech pathologist…
I spent 15 rewarding years working with children, young people, and families to help them find and use their ‘voice'. Here is where my love for connection, collaboration and communication were sceded. It’s also where I discovered that systems needed to change to enable and empower people, rather than ‘fix’.
This desire to improve and innovate the services and systems available to people was what drove me to my next career chapter: co-designing and implementing human-centred strategy and services in the health sector.
My work has evolved to facilitator, strategist and guide for workplaces and workforces.
I established Macaulay Consulting in 2023 because I wanted to bring inspiring and impactful facilitation to achieve positive results for workplaces and workforces, particularly in health and human services.
